    The PhD Program Land, Environment, Resources and Health is a multi-disciplinary three-year Doctoral Program (180 ECTS).

    LERH Program mission is to understand the processes governing natural and agricultural ecosystems and food quality and to train researchers in integrated strategies for the management of natural resources, for promoting an intersectoral rural and agri-food development and associated bio-based economic activities. The emphasis is on basic and applied research on agri-forest ecosystems, sustainable technologies, innovative management options and integrated policies.

    The final objective of the LERH Program is to educate the leaders of the future generations of top management staff and researchers working with sustainable rural, nature and food management to ensure wider societal benefits. 

    The five Research areas of the LERH Program are: Agriculture, forest and food economics and policy; Forest ecology and forest management; Hydrology, water resources, land and soil conservation; Agriculture and forest mechanization and operations management; Viticulture and enology, food quality and nutrition.

    Applicants must have completed a Master Degree (equivalent to an Italian laurea magistrale or laurea magistrale a ciclo unico). Entry examination required. Completion requirements: drafting of a PhD thesis and discussion in front of the University Committee.

    The first instalment (€217,50) is payable within October 31 and within December 31for enrollees attending second and subsequent years. In the case of first year enrollees, the payment date varies for each School and course and is indicated in the single announcements.
    The second instalment is payable within July 31. The amounts vary according to the ISEE (Equivalent Economic Status Index) income declaration presented by the student.

    The University of Padova, through funding from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, offers research fellowships for foreign students to attend Doctoral Courses. During the 3-year doctorate programme, successful candidates are entitled to full board and lodging.
